Hasmik Amirian

Classical Ballet

A native of Armenia, began her  studies at the age of seven at the Armenian Choreographic Ballet Institute. She was trained in the Vaganova (Russian) method by teachers who had been trained by Agrippina Vaganova herself. After graduating, Hasmik joined the Armenian National Opera Ballet Theatre, where she rose quickly through the ranks and was promoted to a soloist. In 1992, after several successful tours, Hasmik immigrated to the United States. Hasmiks tours were international where she preformed principal roles. She performed as a guest artist with companies such as Marla Bingham Contemporary Ballet, Nima Kiann’s Les Ballet Persans, Kalinin Dance Company, and in 1995 joined Los Angeles Classical Ballet as a soloist and made Los Angeles her permanent home. Today, Hasmik is a sought after Master Ballet Teacher in Los Angeles. In 2002, she joined Marat Daukeyev School of Ballet teaching advanced level and pre professional ballet students. In 2007 Hasmik was promoted to assistant director where she held that position until 2017. In 2017, Hasmik went on to start her own ballet school Hasmik Amirian Ballet and trained several dancers who have gone on to have professional careers. Hasmik Amirian has been awarded outstanding teacher by several institutions as well as having her students win top awards from YAGP, California Dance Classics, Icon Awards, The Japan Grand Prix, Prix de Lausanne,Spotlight Awards, Young Arts, and many others. Her school has independently received top honors from YAGP as Outstanding School from 2018-2024. Hasmik Amirian has also offered scholarships to dancers in India with The Great Indian Ballet Competition and through the non- profit Everybody Dance LA. Hasmik has held positions as ballet master at the acclaimed Debbie Allen Studios in Los Angeles, and guest master teacher at Penninsula School of the Performing Arts, Revolution Dance Studios, Pasadena Civic Ballet , and Long Beach Ballet to mention a few. Through the years, Hasmik’s students have received invitations to top ballet schools, universities, and prestigious companies such as Royal Ballet School, ABT, SAB, Vaganova School, Bolshoi School, The Washington Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, Joffery Ballet, Ballet Austin, Tulsa Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Princess Grace Academy, Dutch National Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Boston Conservatory, Royal Danish Ballet, Ballet West, Alvin Alley, Juliard, Sarasota Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, USC, UCLA, Harvard, Stanford, and many more . Hasmik is known in the community for her beautiful approach to the Vaganova method and healthy training of the next generation of dancers.
